MH CET 5-Year LL.B. Exam Pattern 2027: Section-Wise Weightage

The MH CET Law exam pattern covers five subjects. Legal Aptitude & Legal Reasoning and Logical & Analytical Reasoning carry 32 marks each, making them the highest-weightage sections.

1. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning

This section evaluates candidates' ability to understand legal principles and apply them to given situations. Questions may present a legal proposition followed by a set of facts. Candidates must accept the proposition as true for the purpose of the question, even if it does not reflect the actual legal position, and use it to reach a logically supported conclusion.

2. General Knowledge with Current Affairs

This section evaluates candidates' static general knowledge and awareness about the latest happenings. The syllabus includes Ancient, Medieval and Modern History, Geography, General Science, Economics and Civics.

Questions assess awareness of important developments and knowledge of the wider world. Preparation should cover both established subject areas and recent developments.

3. Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Logical and Analytical Reasoning tests the ability to recognise patterns, identify relationships and evaluate arguments. Questions may involve analogies, completing arguments, drawing conclusions, applying rules and identifying flaws in reasoning.

Candidates may also need to interpret relationships among people, objects or events and use a set of statements or principles to reach a logical conclusion. This section carries the maximum weightage in the MH CET Law question paper pattern.

4. English

The English section assesses vocabulary, language usage and comprehension. Its topics include:

• Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms and analogies.
• Language proficiency: Idioms, phrases and one-word substitutions.
• Sentence skills: Sentence improvement, rearrangement and fill-in-the-blanks questions.
• English usage: Common grammatical errors, error spotting, inappropriate word usage, and spelling mistakes.
• Reading comprehension: Understanding and interpreting written passages.

5. Mathematical Aptitude

Mathematical Aptitude measures numerical ability through questions based on Class 10-level mathematics. Topics include profit and loss, speed and distance, time and work, algebra, averages, and Venn diagrams.

This section contains 8 questions worth 8 marks. Candidates can use topic-wise practice to improve calculation accuracy and solve numerical questions within the overall time limit.

MH CET Law Exam Pattern 2027: Marking Scheme

Under the MH CET Law marking system, candidates earn 1 mark for each correct answer. Marks are not deducted for incorrect answers. Check the marking scheme below:

How the marking scheme works

Suppose a candidate answers 90 questions correctly, answers 20 incorrectly, and leaves 10 questions unattempted.

The score would be:

• Correct answers: 90 × 1 = 90 marks
• Incorrect answers: 20 × 0 = 0 marks
• Unattempted questions: 10 × 0 = 0 marks
• Total score: 90/120

Since incorrect answers do not attract a penalty, candidates will not lose marks for attempting a question and selecting the wrong option. However, they still need to manage their time carefully to cover the paper and avoid spending too long on difficult questions.

How to Prepare for MH CET Law 5-Year Law Based on Exam Pattern

MH CET Law Preparation should reflect the number of questions, marks and skills required in each section. The weightage provides a practical way to divide study time and identify areas that need regular practice.

1. Prioritise the two highest-weightage sections

Together, Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning and Logical and Analytical Reasoning account for 64 out of 120 marks, or approximately 53.3% of the paper.

Practise legal principle-based questions, fact-based applications, analogies, logical links and conclusion-based problems. Review incorrect responses to understand whether the mistake came from misreading the question, misunderstanding a principle or choosing an unsupported conclusion.

2. Include current affairs in daily study

GK with Current Affairs carries 24 marks. Cover the history, geography, science, economics and civics topics alongside current affairs from the preceding year.

Use regular revision to retain factual information. Revisit earlier topics instead of relying only on new material during the final phase of preparation.

3. Practise English question types separately

English contributes 24 marks. Divide practice across vocabulary, idioms, one-word substitutions, grammar, sentence rearrangement and reading comprehension.

For error-based questions, identify why an option is incorrect. For comprehension, focus on the passage's meaning and the evidence supporting each answer.

4. Maintain regular mathematics practice

Mathematical Aptitude carries 8 marks and uses Class 10-level topics. Practise profit and loss, speed and distance, time and work, algebra, averages and Venn diagrams.

Focus on calculation accuracy and recognising which method a question requires.

5. Practise within the 120-minute limit

Attempt timed practice papers containing 120 questions. Use the two-hour limit to evaluate question selection, accuracy and pace across all five sections.

After each practice test, check your score by subject. Compare performance with the section-wise weightage to decide where you need more practice. Also review questions that took too long, even when the final answer was correct.

6. Use previous-year difficulty analysis as a reference
