- The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, in collaboration with Assam Government, has launched Mission Senehjori to revitalise and promote the state's iconic Muga silk sector.
- The mission seeks to build a traceable, export-oriented value chain while preserving Assam’s unique silk heritage.
About Mission Senehjori

- Develop a sustainable and export-driven Muga silk ecosystem.
- Enhance livelihoods of approximately 2.5 lakh weavers and silkworm rearers.
- Strengthen Assam's position in the global premium silk market.

3. Formation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs)
- Promote collective bargaining power and Improve access to markets, finance, and technology.
4. GI-Based Traceability
- Strengthen Geographical Indication (GI) verification systems for authentic Muga silk products.
5. Export Promotion Target
- Achieve exports exceeding 2,000 kilograms of Muga silk by 2028.

- Muga silk is the world's only naturally golden-coloured silk.
