CLAT 2027 Question Paper: What to Expect and How to Prepare in Last Few Weeks?

The CLAT 2027 question paper will be the final test of months, and for many students, more than a year of preparation. With the exam now only a few weeks away, this is not the time to keep adding new resources or trying to predict every possible question.

Will the CLAT 2027 Question Paper Pattern Change?

For CLAT 2027, you should prepare according to the official question paper format already published by the Consortium of National Law Universities.

The notified UG format contains the same five broad sections:

  • English Language
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Techniques

The paper will contain 120 questions.

So, your CLAT preparation should continue according to this officially published CLAT 2027 structure.

CLAT 2027 Question Paper Pattern and Section-Wise Weightage

The Consortium has given approximate question ranges and weightage for all five sections.

Section Approx. Questions Approx. Weightage
English Language 22-26 20%
Current Affairs including GK 28-32 25%
Legal Reasoning 28-32 25%
Logical Reasoning 22-26 20%
Quantitative Techniques 10-14 10%
Total 120 100%

CLAT 2027 Question Paper: Expected

Let us look at what you can officially expect from each section and what you should focus on during the last few weeks.

English Language in CLAT 2027 Question Paper

The English section is expected to contain around 22 to 26 questions, or roughly 20% of the paper.

According to the official syllabus, you will be given passages of approximately 450 words. These may be drawn from contemporary or historically important fiction and non-fiction writing.

Questions can test your ability to:

  • Identify the main point of the passage.
  • Understand arguments and viewpoints.
  • Draw inferences.
  • Reach conclusions based on the passage.
  • Summarise ideas.
  • Compare different viewpoints.
  • Understand words and phrases from context.

What Should You Focus on in the Last Few Weeks?

  • At this stage, do not spend most of your CLAT English preparation memorising isolated vocabulary lists.
  • Instead, practise actual passages under time pressure.
  • Pay particular attention to questions where two options appear very close. After every wrong answer, ask whether you misunderstood the passage or simply selected an option that went slightly beyond what the passage supported.
  • Your final-week preparation should focus on comprehension, inference, accuracy, and option elimination.

Current Affairs and GK in CLAT 2027 Question Paper

Current Affairs including General Knowledge is expected to contribute around 28 to 32 questions, approximately 25% of the paper.

The official syllabus states that the section can use passages of up to approximately 450 words based on news, journalistic sources, and other non-fiction writing.

The Consortium identifies areas such as:

  • Contemporary events of significance from India and the world
  • Arts and culture
  • International affairs
  • Historical events of continuing significance

Importantly, the Consortium has also clarified that there is no specific prescribed time frame for the Current Affairs Including General Knowledge section of CLAT 2027.

That means you should not depend only on a rigid assumption such as "only the last six months will be asked."

How to Prepare GK in the Final Few Weeks

If you have already been preparing throughout the year, revision should now take priority over collecting more Study Material.

Your focus should be on:

  • Revising important monthly current affairs for CLAT.
  • Revisiting major national and international developments.
  • Revising important legal developments.
  • Connecting current topics with relevant background information.
  • Revising major reports, awards, appointments, organisations, schemes, and events where relevant.
  • Testing yourself instead of repeatedly reading notes passively.

A common mistake in the final weeks is downloading more current affairs PDFs than you can realistically revise. It is better to focus on important GK topics for CLAT 2027.

A topic revised three times is generally more useful than a PDF opened once and never revisited.

Legal Reasoning in CLAT 2027 Question Paper

Legal Reasoning is expected to contain around 28 to 32 questions, making it one of the two largest sections of the CLAT 2027 question paper.

According to the official syllabus, passages may deal with legal matters, public policy questions, moral philosophical issues, or fact situations.

You are expected to:

  • Identify rules and principles from the passage.
  • Apply those principles to different factual situations.
  • Understand how changes in facts or rules can change the outcome.

You do not need prior legal knowledge to attempt this section.

What Should You Focus on Now?

During the final few weeks:

  • Practise reading principles carefully.
  • Identify the exact fact that changes the answer.
  • Avoid importing unnecessary outside legal knowledge.
  • Work on close-option elimination.
  • Practise passage sets under time pressure.
  • Analyse why an incorrect Legal option looked attractive.

Many students lose marks in Legal Reasoning despite understanding the concept because they add assumptions that are not present in the passage.

Your job is to answer according to the information and principles given.

Logical Reasoning in CLAT 2027 Question Paper

Logical Reasoning is expected to contain approximately 22 to 26 questions, roughly 20% of the CLAT paper.

The official syllabus says that Logical Reasoning will involve short passages and can test your ability to:

  • Recognise arguments.
  • Identify premises and conclusions.
  • Analyse reasoning patterns.
  • Understand how evidence supports conclusions.
  • Strengthen or weaken an argument.
  • Draw inferences.
  • Apply inferences to new situations.
  • Identify contradictions, relationships, and analogies.

Last Few Weeks Strategy

Your practice should focus on passage-based reasoning rather than solving unlimited isolated questions.

When you analyse a wrong answer, do not stop after seeing the correct option.

Ask:

  • What was the conclusion?
  • What evidence supported it?
  • Why did my selected option fail?
  • Did I assume something that was not stated?
  • Did I misunderstand the scope of the argument?

This type of analysis will help you improve much faster than simply solving more questions.

Quantitative Techniques in CLAT 2027 Question Paper

Quantitative Techniques is expected to contain approximately 10 to 14 questions, around 10% of the paper.

The section can include short sets of facts, propositions, or other forms of numerical information.

According to the official syllabus, you may need to derive numerical information and apply mathematics up to the Class 10 level, including areas such as:

  • Ratios and proportions
  • Basic algebra
  • Mensuration
  • Statistical estimation

How Should You Prepare Quant Now?

Do not try to become a mathematics expert in the final few weeks.

Your goal should be to convert the questions that are within your ability.

Focus on:

  • Percentages
  • Ratios
  • Averages
  • Basic arithmetic
  • Data interpretation
  • Basic algebra
  • Mensuration
  • Calculation speed
  • Set selection

Practise identifying quickly whether a Quant set is worth attempting.

If a set is taking too long, moving ahead can sometimes be the better decision.

What Previous Question Papers Tell You About CLAT 2027?

Previous year CLAT papers cannot tell you exactly what topics will appear in the CLAT question paper 2027.

But they can tell you something much more useful: how the exam actually tests you.

When you solve recent official papers, study:

  • Passage length
  • Question wording
  • Option quality
  • Reading demand
  • Difficulty variation
  • Time pressure
  • Section transitions
  • How much time different passages consume

Previous papers also help you understand the difference between a coaching mock and an actual CLAT paper.

Both are useful, but the official papers should remain an important reference point when you judge question style.

Will CLAT 2027 Question Paper Be Difficult?

It is impossible to reliably predict the exact difficulty of CLAT 2027 before December 6.

More importantly, "difficulty" can take different forms.

1. The Paper Could Be Reading-Heavy

  • The individual questions may appear manageable, but long passages can create time pressure.
  • Your response should be to maintain reading discipline and avoid repeatedly rereading entire passages.

2. Current Affairs Could Feel Unpredictable

  • You may see topics you remember only partially.
  • Do not allow a difficult GK section to disturb your performance in Legal, Logical, English, or Quant.

3. Options Could Be Very Close

  • This is especially relevant in comprehension and reasoning sections.
  • Accuracy becomes more important than rushing to increase attempts.

4. Quant Could Be Time-Consuming

  • A question can be conceptually easy but still take several minutes.
  • Set selection becomes important.

5. One Section Could Be Much Harder Than Expected

  • A difficult section is not necessarily bad for your rank.
  • If everyone finds it difficult, the key is handling it better than others.
  • You should therefore train yourself to respond to difficulty rather than trying to predict it.

How Should You Attempt CLAT 2027 Question Paper on December 6?

Your exam-day strategy should already be familiar by the time you reach the CLAT examination centre.

1. Start With a Tested Section Order

  • There is no universal best order.
  • Some students prefer starting with GK because it is quick. Some start with English or Legal to settle into reading. Others have a different sequence.
  • Use what has repeatedly worked in your CLAT mocks.
  • Do not copy a new section order one day before the exam.

2. Do Not Fight Every Difficult Question

  • If you have spent too much time between two options without making progress, move ahead.
  • One question should not decide the time available for an entire section.

3. Watch Your Accuracy

  • With a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer, unnecessary guessing can hurt your score.
  • Attempt based on your confidence and elimination ability, not because you want a particular attempt count.

4. Keep Track of Time

  • Check the clock at planned intervals rather than every few minutes.
  • You should know broadly where you need to be after 30, 60, and 90 minutes from your mock practice.

5. Be Careful With the OMR Sheet

  • CLAT 2027 is an offline examination.
  • Build an OMR-filling strategy during mocks rather than deciding it for the first time during the actual paper.

Suggested Section-Wise Time Strategy for CLAT 2027 Exam Day

Section Sample Time
English Language 20-25 minutes
Current Affairs & GK 10-15 minutes
Legal Reasoning 30-35 minutes
Logical Reasoning 20-25 minutes
Quantitative Techniques 15-20 minutes
Review/Buffer Remaining time

Do not follow these numbers blindly.

If you consistently complete English in 18 minutes with strong accuracy, there is no reason to deliberately spend 25.

Your mocks should determine your final timing.

Mistakes to Avoid Before the CLAT 2027 Question Paper

During the final weeks, avoid these common mistakes:

  • Trying to predict exact questions.
  • Collecting too many new study resources.
  • Taking mocks without analysing them.
  • Ignoring Quantitative Techniques.
  • Using too many Current Affairs sources.
  • Changing section order repeatedly.
  • Focusing only on mock marks instead of accuracy.
  • Avoiding difficult mock papers because they hurt confidence.
  • Ignoring OMR practice.
  • Sacrificing sleep to increase study hours.

Your preparation should become more controlled as the exam gets closer.

CLAT 2027 Question Paper and Answer Key

The official CLAT 2027 answer key will be important for estimating your score after the examination.

The Consortium's process in CLAT 2026 included publication of question booklets and provisional answer keys, followed by a window during which candidates could raise objections.

Once the CLAT 2027 provisional answer key is released, you should:

  • Match your responses carefully.
  • Calculate correct answers.
  • Count incorrect answers.
  • Apply negative marking.
  • Note any question where you believe the official key may require review.
  • Follow the Consortium's official objection instructions if necessary.
