What is CLAT Exam?

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). It is a gateway for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by the participating National Law Universities in India.

The CLAT is conducted offline, featuring 120 multiple-choice questions for 120 marks. The exam duration will be 2 hours. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in the exam.

CLAT 2027 Notification: Application Fee

There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the UG & PG Programme for the CLAT 2027 exam.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants who have passed an LL.B. Degree or an equivalent exam are eligible.
  • Minimum 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/PwD categories) are required in the LL.B. degree.

Nationality

Indian Nationals/NRIs seeking admission to the UG & PG programmes can participate in the CLAT 2027. Foreign Nationals are not eligible to appear for CLAT. Candidates should refer to the e-brochures and websites of the respective NLUs for more details.

How to Apply for the CLAT 2027 Exam?

The CLAT registration process will be conducted online. Candidates should fill out the application with valid details and pay the application fees for the final submission. 

Applicants are required to choose the program (UG/PG) and category correctly. Requests for a change in program or category in the application form will not be accepted. Here are the steps to apply online for the CLAT 2027 exam without hassles:

Step 1: Visit the Official Website 

Go to the official website, https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/

Step 2: Find the CLAT Apply Online Link

Click “CLAT 2027” on the homepage. Now, find the registration link and click on it.

Step 3: Register Yourself

Register yourself by using your personal mobile number and email ID.  After registration, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for validation. 

Step 4: Fill Out the Application Form

Once the mobile number is validated, log in using the registered mobile number and password.  Enter personal details, academic qualifications, programme (UG/PG), and category details. Ensure all details are correct before proceeding.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents

Applicants should upload documents/certificates in PDF format only. The original certificates/documents should be issued by the competent authority. Here is the list of documents to be uploaded with the online application:

  • Front-facing passport-size recent photograph with a plain background
  • Signature of the candidate
  • Category certificate if you are applying under SC/ST/OBC
  • Relevant certificate issued by the competent authority if you are applying under the PwD category
  • Relevant certificate issued by the competent authority if you are applying under the BPL category

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee

Proceed to pay the application fee online. Pay the application fee as per your category mentioned in the official notification. 

Save and take a printout of the payment receipt for future use. 

Step 7: Review & Submit the Application

Verify all details entered in the application form. Click on “Final Submit” after the confirmation.

Step 8: Download & Print the Application Form

After the final submission, download the confirmation page and take a printout for reference.
