Information About CLAT Exam
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam for admission to National Law Universities (NLUs) in India.
- Conducted annually by the Consortium of NLUs.
- The exam is conducted offline in a pen-and-paper format.
- Offers admission to 5-year integrated BA LLB and LLM programs.
- Accepted by 26 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other top law colleges.
- Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate aspirants.

Candidates must meet the CLAT eligibility criteria set by the Consortium of NLUs to appear for the examination.
- Education Qualification: Passed Class 12 or appearing in the current academic year.
- 12th Marks Criteria: Minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST).
- Age Limit: No lower or upper age limit.
- Nationality: Open to Indian nationals, NRI, and foreign nationals.
- Number of attempts: No limit

CLAT UG includes five subjects to test your knowledge, comprehension, and reasoning abilities.
- English Language: Reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar.
- Current Affairs, including GK: General knowledge and current events.
- Legal Reasoning: Legal principles, logical application, and problem-solving.
- Logical Reasoning: Analytical skills, arguments, and conclusion-based reasoning.
- Quantitative Techniques: Elementary mathematics, graphs, and data interpretation.
CLAT exam pattern follows a multiple-choice question format with a focus on reading comprehension and reasoning.

- Total Marks: 120
- Marking Scheme: +1 for correct answers, -0.25 for incorrect ones.

- Basics of Economics: Inflation, banking, union budget, national income, economic glossary, money and capital markets, economic organizations and reports.
- Important Current Events: Environment, science and technology, government schemes, national and international reports, significant developments.
- History: Major historical events, freedom struggles, historical figures, significant milestones.
- Art and Culture: Aspects of Indian art, cultural heritage, important works of literature, dance, and architecture.
- Constitution: Basics of the constitution, fundamental rights, directive principles, emergency provisions, constitutional doctrines.
- Contract Law: Types of contracts, offer, acceptance, consideration, capacity to contract, breach, remedies.
- Tort Law: Nature of torts, negligence, vicarious liability, defamation, nuisance, and trespass.
- Criminal Law: Offenses like murder, theft, culpable homicide, sexual offenses, and defenses in criminal law.
- Family Law: Marriage law, divorce law, inheritance law, adoption law, maintenance law.
- Evidence Act: Admissions, confessions, burden of proof, estoppel, dying declarations.
