From Army Dream to CLAT 2026 Success: Hiya’s Story

Scoring 99.5 marks and securing AIR 202 in CLAT 2026, Hiyaa’s journey is driven by purpose, discipline, and an unwavering desire to serve the nation. Hailing from Punjab, Hiyaa prepared for CLAT through one-year online training with Law Prep Tutorial’s CLAT coaching in Jodhpur, balancing consistency with clarity in preparation.

Her dream since childhood was to join the Indian Army. When physical limitations closed one door, Hiyaa chose another equally powerful path, law, with a clear goal of clearing the JAG (Judge Advocate General) exam and serving the country as a legal officer.

In a year when CLAT surprised aspirants with a paper dominated by Analytical Reasoning and constitutional legal GK, Hiyaa stayed calm, trusted her preparation, and delivered a strong performance. Her story reflects how clear goals, limited resources, repeated revision, and the right mentorship can turn uncertainty into success. This interview captures her mindset, preparation strategy, and vision ahead.

CLAT 2026 Toppers

Law Prep: Congratulations on your excellent performance in CLAT 2026. Please introduce yourself and tell us what motivated you to pursue law as a career.

Hiyaa:

I’m Hiyaa, and I’m from Punjab. I came to Jodhpur for a one-year online training with Law Prep Tutorial.

Since childhood, my dream has always been to join the Army. Unfortunately, due to certain physical limitations related to my eyesight, I couldn’t clear the required physical standards. That’s when I decided that I still want to serve the nation—this time through law. My goal is to clear the JAG (Judge Advocate General) exam and join the Army as a legal officer.

Law Prep: CLAT 2026 was quite unpredictable. What major surprises did you notice in the exam paper?

Hiyaa:

The most significant change was in the Logical Reasoning section. Although Analytical Reasoning was introduced last year, this time the entire section consisted only of AR, with no Critical Reasoning questions at all.

Another noticeable aspect was the Legal Reasoning section. It was heavily based on Constitutional Law and legal GK. In some questions, parts even went slightly beyond the passage. But overall, if you look at the paper as a whole, it wasn’t completely unexpected.

Law Prep: General Knowledge often confuses aspirants. How did you prepare for GK, and which sources worked best for you?

Hiyaa:

When I initially started preparing for GK, like many students, I tried multiple sources. I joined different coaching institutes, referred to their GK material, and even subscribed to online services. Very soon, this became overwhelming and confusing.

That’s when my teachers advised me to follow CLAT Express and take proper notes during classes. This approach worked best for me. Too many sources only create unnecessary pressure.

If you’ve been reading newspapers consistently, following CLAT Express, and paying close attention to your teachers, that is more than sufficient. My advice is to prepare CLAT Express thoroughly—covering everything from miscellaneous topics to quick bites and current affairs.

Law Prep: How did Law Prep Tutorial support you during your preparation?

Hiyaa:

Law Prep supported me immensely throughout my journey. The teachers are excellent and extremely supportive. Whether it was doubts related to study material or confusion about strategy, the faculty was always available.

The CLAT study material is very well-structured and comprehensive. Overall, the guidance, resources, and support system at Law Prep played a major role in my preparation.

Law Prep: What role did mock tests play in your preparation?

Hiyaa:

CLAT mock tests by Law Prep were very beneficial. They were not always easy or always difficult—the difficulty level varied from easy to moderate to challenging. This helped me prepare mentally for all kinds of exam scenarios.

During mock analysis, whenever I had doubts, the teachers were always there to clarify them. In fact, in the actual CLAT 2026 exam, there were two to three passages that felt very similar to what we had already practiced in the mocks. That really boosted my confidence.

Law Prep: What are your future plans after completing law school?

Hiyaa:

My primary goal is to join the Indian Army by clearing the JAG exam and serve as an advocate. At the same time, I’m also open to practicing law independently and, in the long run, possibly becoming a judge.

Law Prep: Recent JAG-related judgments have inspired many aspirants. How did they impact you personally?

Hiyaa:

They brought back my childhood dream of serving in the Army. Wearing the uniform has always meant a lot to me. Even though I couldn’t fulfill this dream through other exams, I strongly believe that through law, I will be able to achieve it.

Lawprep: Any final message for CLAT aspirants?

Hiyaa:

Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many resources. Trust your teachers, stick to limited and reliable sources, and revise consistently. Believe in yourself and your preparation—everything will fall into place with dedication and discipline.
