AIR 26 CLAT 2026

How Bihar Boy Yash Vardhan Cracked CLAT & AILET 2026 Both

Success in law entrance exams is rarely about one perfect day – it’s about handling doubt, pressure, and unpredictability without losing belief.

From Shivhar, a small district in Bihar, Yash Vardhan Pratap turned a turbulent two-year preparation journey into a remarkable dual achievement, securing AIR-26 in CLAT 2026 and AIR-41 in AILET 2026.

There were phases when his mock scores dipped into the 70s, confidence wavered, and self-doubt took over. But instead of panicking, Yash chose reflection, discipline, and trust in the process.

A student of Law Prep Tutorial’s CLAT coaching in Patna, Yash prepared himself not just for a syllabus, but for uncertainty itself. When CLAT 2026 replaced Critical Reasoning with Analytical Reasoning, he stayed composed – because he had trained his mind to expect the unexpected.

This interview is not just about ranks. It is about resilience, clarity, and the mindset required to succeed in both CLAT and AILET, making Yash Vardhan Pratap a true inspiration for aspirants across the country.

Law Prep: Yash, first of all, congratulations on your remarkable achievement. How do you look back at your two-year CLAT journey?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Thank you, sir. This journey taught me a lot. Over the last two years, I experienced many highs and many lows. There were phases when my scores were very good, and there were times when they dropped drastically. It was never a one-sided journey.

I faced obstacles, mental pressure, and self-doubt, but in the end, I believed in myself. With continuous motivation from Law Prep Tutorial Patna and guidance from mentors like you, everything worked out.

Law Prep: There was a phase when your mock scores dropped to the 70s. How did that phase affect you mentally?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

When my scores dropped, my confidence plummeted completely. I felt mentally unstable and kept questioning why this was happening to me. Later, I realised that the difficulty level of the mocks had increased during the tri-series and that it affected everyone, not just me.

But at that time, I had lost confidence, which was the biggest reason behind my low scores.

Law Prep: How did you manage to make a strong comeback after that difficult phase?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

I reflected deeply on my mistakes. I told myself that if this was happening to me, it must be happening to others too. I analysed where I was going wrong, identified silly mistakes, and consciously worked on them.

I kept reminding myself that whatever paper comes on exam day will be equally difficult for everyone. Staying calm, composed, and focused helped me regain confidence and make a strong comeback.

Law Prep: On CLAT exam day, Critical Reasoning was replaced by Analytical Reasoning. How did you handle this unexpected change?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Before attempting any paper, my first step is always to scan the paper and understand the sections and their difficulty level. When I saw four Analytical Reasoning passages, I wasn’t shocked because I already knew CLAT is an unpredictable exam.

Last year too, there were unexpected analytical questions. I had mentally prepared myself for such surprises and never ignored Analytical Reasoning during CLAT preparation.

Law Prep: Many students ignore Analytical Reasoning for CLAT. Why didn’t you?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

During my two-year preparation for CLAT, I studied Analytical Reasoning along with English and Legal. At Law Prep Tutorial Patna, we had at least one Analytical class every week. Also, since I was preparing for other law entrance exams simultaneously, Analytical was always part of my routine. That’s why I was confident handling it on exam day.

Law Prep: You mentioned that the last 10 minutes of the exam were crucial. What exactly happened?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Those last 10 minutes were truly miraculous. There was one Analytical set that I couldn’t solve initially. I tried mid-exam but failed, so I shifted my focus to Maths, which was comparatively easier.

After completing Maths, I still had 10 minutes left. I revisited the Analytical set, rechecked my conditions carefully, found them satisfactory, and decided not to give up. I attempted it, and later it turned out to be correct. Time management played a massive role there.

Law Prep: You experienced a “Feel the CLAT before CLAT” replica exam. How did that help you?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

It helped me immensely. The invigilators, classrooms, and exam environment at the CLAT AIOM felt familiar. There was no fear of surroundings. That familiarity reduced my anxiety and kept my confidence intact on the actual exam day.

Law Prep: Who would you like to give credit to for your success?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

First and foremost, I want to thank Law Prep Tutorial Patna, you, and the entire faculty team. When my scores dropped into the 70s, I couldn’t even tell my parents. But you constantly supported me and believed in me. That trust made me think—if my teachers believe in me, why shouldn’t I believe in myself? That thought awakened an inner spark which led me to success.

Law Prep: You come from Shivhar, a small district in Bihar. There’s a stereotype that students from Bihar have weak English. How did you overcome that?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Being from a small district doesn’t matter. What matters is effort. Just because someone is from Bihar doesn’t mean they can’t excel in English. I worked on my English through regular newspaper reading, vocabulary building, and continuous practice. The stereotype that students from Bihar are weak in English is outdated and completely untrue.

Law Prep: How did Law Prep’s resources like CLAT Express and mock tests help you?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Law Prep’s CLAT Express, CLAT mock tests, practice sheets, and current affairs magazines made me familiar with every possible question type.

On exam day, I wasn’t worried about GK or current affairs because every monthly event had already been covered in detail. Teachers ensured thorough revision in class, which helped tremendously.

Law Prep: Did you join any other coaching institute apart from Law Prep Tutorial?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

No, absolutely not. I was a 100% exclusive student of Law Prep Tutorial.

Law Prep: Can you explain your preparation strategy for students joining a two-year CLAT program after Class 10?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

I joined Law Prep Tutorial in May 2024 for a two-year program. The biggest advantage was that the first year focused entirely on building strong basics—English, Legal Reasoning, and static GK.

I made newspaper reading (The Indian Express) a permanent habit and studied at least three hours daily. Editorial summaries helped expand my vocabulary and understanding of geopolitics and environmental issues.

Law Prep: How did strong basics help you in the second year?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Since my basics were strong, I could focus more on GK and current affairs in the second year. That year’s GK is always crucial. Because of my foundation, I could practice all sections daily and saw improvement every two to three months.

Law Prep: How did you manage schoolwork along with CLAT preparation?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

School takes up almost eight hours a day. To manage that, I attended school only two to three days a week to maintain attendance. My main focus remained CLAT and AILET. I revised school topics two to three hours weekly, while nearly 80–90% of my effort was dedicated to CLAT.

Law Prep: How does it feel to make Bihar proud, and what role did your parents play?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

I feel extremely proud to have brought honor to Bihar. My parents showed me the right path and gave me the freedom to choose my career. While many parents push for engineering or medicine, they allowed me to pursue law, which genuinely interested me. That support made all the difference.

Law Prep: Why did you choose Law Prep Tutorial Patna instead of going to Delhi or other cities?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

Law Prep Tutorial’s CLAT coaching in Patna has a very strong track record. Every year, Bihar toppers come from here. I had heard from many people that it’s the best institute in Bihar, so I trusted it—and I don’t regret that decision at all.

Law Prep: What are your future plans after law school?

Yash Vardhan Pratap:

I plan to join the judiciary. There is a huge backlog of cases, and the public system needs dedicated individuals. I want to contribute to society and bring positive change. Judiciary is a noble profession, and earning respect through service is my ultimate goal.
