Knowing the AILET eligibility criteria is the first step toward securing admission to NLU Delhi. The eligibility for AILET exam differs for UG and PG programs. For BA LLB, you must have passed Class 12 with minimum marks based on category, while LLM applicants must hold an LL.B. degree with the required percentage. 

There is no age limit for AILET exam. Students appearing in Class 12 or final-year LL.B. are also allowed to apply, provided they meet eligibility by the cut-off date. This guide explains every requirement clearly so you can apply confidently and avoid mistakes.

These are the AILET eligibility requirements:

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam.
  • If applying as Indian National, you must appear for AILET.
  • Foreign Nationals must have 65% in Class 12 and are exempt from the exam.

Students Appearing in Class 12

  • Class 12 appearing/awaiting-result students can apply.
  • Eligibility must be met by the cut-off date issued by NLU Delhi.

AILET Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for applying to AILET.

Nationality Rules

  • Indian Nationals can apply normally.
  • Foreign Nationals must apply online but are exempt from AILET.

OCI/PIO candidates may:

  • Apply under OCI/PIO category, or
  • Apply as Indian National (must appear for AILET).
  • Two separate applications are required.

You must have completed LL.B. or an equivalent law degree from a recognized university.

  • Apply as Indian Nationals (must appear for AILET)

If you fail to meet AILET eligibility, your application is rejected immediately or your admission is cancelled even after clearing the exam. You lose your allotted seat, the counselling fee is not refunded, and NLU Delhi does not consider any appeals. Meeting eligibility on the exact cut-off date is mandatory for every candidate.

What is the basic AILET eligibility for BA LLB?

You must have passed 10+2 with minimum marks: 45% (General), 42% (OBC–NCL), 40% (SC/ST/PwD).

Is there an age limit for AILET?

No. There is no age limit for either BA LLB or LLM.

Can Class 12 appearing students apply for AILET UG?

Yes, but they must meet eligibility by the cut-off date. Compartment cases are ineligible.

Can final-year LL.B. students apply for AILET PG?

Yes. Final-year LL.B. students can apply, but must produce final marksheets by the deadline.

How many times can I attempt AILET?

There is no attempt limit.

Is EWS reservation available in AILET?

Yes, 10% seats are reserved for EWS candidates. Certificate must be issued after 1 April 2025.

Can I apply for AILET if my marks are below minimum?

No. NLU Delhi does not allow admission if you fall short even by a fraction.

Does AILET consider compartment students?
