Chaitanya Ghosh, AIR-2 AILET 2025: Story of Calm Consistency

Some toppers prepare aggressively, and some prepare quietly; but results come to those who stay consistent. Chaitanya Ghosh (AIR-2 AILET 2025), one of the brightest students of his batch, is known among peers as the “calm achiever.”

No panic, no burnout, no intense 12-hour routines – just steady daily discipline. From choosing Humanities despite societal pressure to discovering his inclination towards law through family influence, his journey is shaped by clarity, reading habits, Olympiad exposure, and smart preparation strategies.

Unlike many AILET toppers who built their base through newspapers, Chaitanya trusted books, PTI updates, one-liner GK notes, and logic-building resources like GMAT Verbal. He openly discusses his struggles with GK, mock score fluctuations, and identifying which question to leave during the exam.

This interview captures the mindset, strategies, and habits that helped him crack one of the toughest exams in India with remarkable composure and maturity – proving that consistency beats intensity.

AILET 2025 Toppers

Chaitanya Ghosh is now a student at National Law University, Delhi. He comes from a supportive family with an academic environment that encouraged reading, curiosity, and balanced discipline.

Initially inclined toward PCM, he shifted to Humanities on his elder brother’s advice and soon discovered law through family connections and self-exploration. A strong reader since childhood, crime fiction and Olympiads formed the backbone of his comprehension and logical reasoning skills.

He preferred a calm, consistent routine instead of high-pressure study patterns, balancing GK from multiple reliable sources and sharpening reasoning with tough resources like GMAT Verbal.

His journey reflects self-awareness – identifying Quant as a strength, GK as a challenge, and Logical Reasoning as an area needing strategic adjustment. Overall, he exemplifies focus, humility, and disciplined preparation.

Law Prep: Chaitanya, congratulations! How does it feel?

Chaitanya: Thank you so much, ma’am. It feels great to be here.

Law Prep: You chose Humanities despite societal pressure. How did that decision happen?

Chaitanya: Initially, I wanted PCM. But my elder brother encouraged Humanities. Through family friends in the legal field, I slowly understood law. My mother also believed Humanities + law was a great combination, so I went ahead.

Law Prep: Did you have a Plan B?

Chaitanya: Not really. I thought of CET and a BA degree, and UPSC was something my mother hoped I’d consider someday. But law remained my primary focus.

Law Prep: People say you were very “chill” during preparation. How true is that?

Chaitanya: (laughs) Yes, I was calm. I didn’t study crazy hours. I studied regularly, gave myself breaks, and remained consistent. That matters more than forceful long hours.

Law Prep: How important were newspapers for you?

Chaitanya: I read The Hindu initially but stopped midway. Reading wasn’t a problem for me because I was used to books and Olympiads. Comprehension felt natural.

Law Prep: What kind of books do you read?

Chaitanya: Mostly crime fiction – Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle. They improved my reading speed and comfort.

Law Prep: If not newspapers, what were your GK sources?

Chaitanya: PTI, Vision PDFs, and One-Liners Express. I relied on primary sources with consistent revision.

Law Prep: Which section troubled you the most?

Chaitanya: GK. It’s vast and demands systematic coverage. Other sections rely on skills; GK relies on knowledge.

Law Prep: Your strongest section?

Chaitanya: Quantitative Aptitude.

Law Prep: Any tips for students struggling in Quant?

Chaitanya:

  • Fix your basics: averages, ratio, proportion
  • These concepts are from earlier grades; revise them
  • Practice with time limits
  • Even easy sets demand speed

Difference between CLAT vs AILETAILET Exam Pattern

Law Prep: What did you use for Critical Reasoning?

Chaitanya: GMAT Verbal Reasoning. It’s tougher than CLAT, so it builds strong fundamentals. Sectional tests helped too.

Law Prep: You got stuck on one AR set in CLAT. How did you handle it?

Chaitanya: I solved it twice; options didn’t match. That’s when I realized the question might be incorrect. I let it go. Otherwise, I would have wasted too much time.

Law Prep: What helped build your overall aptitude for CLAT?

Chaitanya: Olympiads. I gave them till Class 9. They build maths, comprehension, and exam temperament.

Law Prep: Did mock fluctuations affect you?

Chaitanya: Yes. I often got stuck in the 70s–80s. But I believed consistency would help, and eventually scores rose.

Law Prep: What role did your family play?

Chaitanya: A major role. My elder brother helped with math. My parents supported me in every way. They cared more about my well-being than pressure.
A positive environment matters.

Law Prep: How did you prepare for Legal Reasoning?

Chaitanya: Mostly through mocks. Concepts repeat so much that you automatically understand principles like negligence, intent, etc.

Law Prep: What was your biggest weakness?

Chaitanya: Logical Reasoning. I used to keep it for last and couldn’t complete it. Once I changed my pattern, it improved.

Law Prep: Your biggest preparation advice?

Chaitanya:

Do’s:

  • Increase mock frequency
  • Analyze every AILET mock Test
  • Spend 40–60 minutes on mistakes and explanations

Don’ts:

  • Don’t over-focus on one weak area
  • Don’t ignore balance – every section matters

Law Prep: Are you active on social media?

Chaitanya: No. I quit. I prefer real conversations and don’t seek online validation.

Law Prep: Any final message for aspirants?

Chaitanya: Don’t compare yourself. Trust your mentors, involve your parents, be consistent, and prepare honestly. Everyone’s journey is different.
