Stages in Gujarat Judiciary Exam Paper Pattern

There are three stages in the Gujarat Judiciary exam 2026. You must qualify each stage to move to the next round.

• Preliminary Exam: It is also considered the elimination objective-type test. It has 2 papers. Paper I (Law) and Paper II (Test of Gujarati Language). But Paper II is conducted for those who have not passed the Secondary (SSC) or Higher Secondary (HSC) Examination with the subject of Gujarati. The marks secured in the prelims will not be considered in the final selection list.
• Main Exam: It consists of two descriptive-type papers, each carrying 100 marks. The test duration will be 3 hours for each paper.
• Interview: The Viva-voce Test will be conducted for 50 marks. It evaluates overall suitability, including mental alertness, legal knowledge, and other qualities.

Gujarat Judiciary Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

Preliminary Exam is the first stage of the Gujarat Judiciary selection process. It is an objective-type test administered on an OMR sheet. Paper I comprises 100 multiple-choice questions from law subjects. The exam duration for Paper I is 2 hours.  

Each question carries 1 mark, and a negative marking of 0.33 marks applies for each incorrect or multiple answer. The medium of the question paper will be English only.

Paper II (Test of Gujarati Language) will be held for those who have not passed the Secondary (SSC) or Higher Secondary (HSC) Examination with the subject of Gujarati. The maximum marks shall be 50, and the exam duration will be 1½ hours.

Gujarat Judiciary Viva-Voce (Interview) Pattern 2026

Those who declared successful in the main written exam will be called to appear in the Viva-Voce (Interview) round. It carries a total of 50 marks. It is designed to evaluate qualities such as:

Medium of Gujarat Judicial Services Exam 2026

Preliminary Exam	The medium of the exam will be English only. Those who have not passed the Secondary (SSC) or Higher Secondary (HSC) exam with the subject of Gujarati are required to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) Language Proficiency Test (Paper II).
Main Written Exam	The medium of the Question Paper I & Question Paper II of the Main written exam will be English. Answers to Questions of Papers I & II of the main exam may be given either in English or in Gujarati

Minimum Qualifying Marks in Gujarat Judiciary Exam 2026

You should obtain the minimum qualifying marks in each stage of the Gujarat Judiciary selection process to advance to the next round. Check the minimum passing marks for all stages below:
