The Second Allotment List of CLAT 2025 is generated by the Consortium of NLUs to update seat allocations after the first round. The list is prepared using a systematic approach based on the following criteria:

1. Vacant Seats from the First Round

Seats left unconfirmed or withdrawn by candidates in the first allotment are added back to the pool for reallocation. This includes seats from all categories, such as General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD.

2. Candidates Who Opted for the Float Option

Candidates who chose the float option in the first round retain their current seat while being considered for higher-preference NLUs in the second allotment.

Their allotment depends on:

3. Waitlisted Candidates

Candidates who were not allotted any seat in the first round are considered for allocation based on:

  • Their rank in the merit list.
  • Remaining seats after accounting for floated candidates and category reservations.

4. Merit-Cum-Preference System

The allotment follows the merit-cum-preference system:

  • Merit: Higher-ranked candidates are given priority.
  • Preference: Allocations are made based on the NLU preferences selected during counselling registration.

Example: A candidate ranked higher and choosing NLSIU Bangalore as their first preference gets priority over a lower-ranked candidate with the same preference.

5. Reservation and Domicile Policies

Seats are allocated as per the reservation policies of individual NLUs, including:

  • Category reservations (e.g., SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD).
  • Domicile reservations for specific states.

Once the Second Allotment List is released, candidates must take appropriate action based on their allotment status and preferences. Here’s what to do:

1. Check Your Allotment

Download and review the second allotment list from the official CLAT website.

Verify details such as:

  • Allotted NLU
  • Category of seat
  • Your registration or roll number.

2. Take Action As Per Your Preference

After having a look at the second seat allotment list of NLUs, you can choose one of the following options:

– Accept the Allotted Seat

If satisfied with the current allotment, confirm your admission by paying the confirmation fee within the deadline (January 16, 2025). This step secures your seat in the allotted NLU and ends your participation in further allotment rounds.

– Go for Upgradation (Float Option)

If you wish to upgrade to a higher-preference NLU, select the float option. Pay the confirmation fee to retain your current seat while remaining eligible for seat upgrades in the next rounds.

Note: Floating does not guarantee an upgrade; it depends on seat availability and merit.

– Withdraw from Counselling

If you decide not to continue with the counselling process or are unhappy with the CLAT allotment list 2025, you can withdraw.

Inform the Consortium of NLUs and check the refund policy for the counselling fee, if applicable.

3. Prepare for Admission

If you’ve confirmed your seat, start preparing for the admission process by:

  • Gathering required documents (e.g., CLAT admit card, rank card, category certificate, domicile proof, etc.).
  • Paying the university-specific admission fees when notified.
