- 1 lakh villages

1. Institutional Mechanisms
- Adi Sewa Kendra:
- To be set up in all tribal villages.
- Officers & community dedicate 1–2 hours fortnightly (Adi Sewa Samay) for issue resolution, youth mentoring, and governance support.
- Governance Lab Workshops:
- Multi-level workshops (state → village) for co-creating tribal development solutions.
- Tribal Village Action Plan (TVAP):
- Jointly developed with villagers for Tribal Village Vision 2030, aligned with SDGs & national development goals.
2. Volunteer Engagement
- Adi Sahyogi: Teachers, doctors, professionals mentoring and mobilizing communities.
- Adi Saathi: SHGs, NRLM members, tribal elders, youth, and local leaders supporting outreach.
3. Capacity Building
- Training tribal youth, women, and leaders in governance, problem-solving, social mobilization.
Significance
- Strengthens tribal self-governance and leadership in line with Viksit Bharat 2047.
- Enhances flagship schemes:
- Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan
- PM-JANMAN (Prime Minister’s Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan)

Vice-Presidential Election 2025 – Schedule Notified
Why in News
The Election Commission of India has released the official schedule for the Vice-Presidential Election 2025, which is conducted under constitutional provisions ensuring a transparent and democratic process.
Constitutional Framework
- Article 66(2): The Vice-President cannot be a member of either House of Parliament or any State Legislature.
- Article 67: The Vice-President has a five-year term.
- Article 68(2): In case of a vacancy, the election must be held without delay.
Election Procedure
- Nomination Process
- Requires support of 20 proposers and 20 seconders.
- A security deposit of ₹15,000 is mandatory.
- Candidate must provide a certified copy of their entry in the electoral roll.
- Electoral College
- Composed of all elected and nominated members of both Houses of Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha).
- Voting Method: Proportional representation by single transferable vote.
- Voting Process: Conducted through secret ballot (Article 66).
- Vote Value: Every vote carries an equal value of 1.
- Other Provisions
- Anti-Defection Law is not applicable; hence no party whip can be issued.
Eligibility Criteria (Article 66)
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must be at least 35 years of age.
- Should be qualified for election as a Rajya Sabha member.
- Cannot hold an office of profit under the Union, State, or any local authority.
Chinese Foreign Minister’s Visit to India Amid LAC Tensions
Why in News?
The Chinese Foreign Minister recently visited India for the first time since the escalation of tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During the visit, he co-chaired the 24th round of the Special Representatives’ (SRs) Dialogue with India’s National Security Advisor.

1. Border Management & Security Framework
- Agreement to work towards a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution based on the 2005 Agreement on Political Parameters and Guiding Principles.
- Decision to establish an Expert Group and Working Group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC).
- Emphasis on using existing diplomatic and military channels for managing tensions and initiating de-escalation.
2. Resumption of Dialogue Mechanisms
- Both sides agreed to revive suspended dialogues, including the High-Level Mechanism on People-to-People Exchanges, set to resume in 2026.
3. Strengthening Bilateral Engagements
- 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties: Commemorative events planned throughout 2025 to mark the milestone.
- Air Connectivity: Agreement to resume direct flights between India and China at the earliest.
